On course toward our True North

Since the pandemic began, we have been humbled by the dedication Fellows and residents have shown in their professional lives. It hasn’t been easy. For some of you, the pandemic has been life threatening. We know the impact of COVID-19 will continue to create challenges, and the Royal College will be here to listen, respond and adapt our programs and services to support you.

We have heard from our members that they have high expectations for the future. Overwhelmingly, you have called on us to include greater equity, diversity and inclusion across all Royal College processes, committees and leadership. We have also heard calls for greater member engagement, which will enable us to provide the best resources and tools for building your careers.

Over the next two years, we will rely on feedback from Fellows, residents and others in the health care community to ensure our strategy continues to respond to diverse perspectives, come what may. Your ideas, and the initiatives we undertake as part of this strategic plan, will help us build the foundation we need to grow and innovate into the future.

Fundamentally, we are working to ensure that the Royal College is recognized by the aspirational attributes we have written into our True North vision and mission: to be inclusive, expert and progressive. Together, we will continue to earn the trust of patients and communities as we achieve our vision of advancing learning to deliver the best health care for all.

We would like to thank the Royal College’s committed members, volunteers, staff and partners in the health care community for their confidence in this work and support of the Royal College’s mission. In particular, we would like to thank our advisory group – which included patients, Fellows, residents, volunteers and staff – for providing the rich and diverse discussions and ideas that created the framework for this strategic plan.
