Growing
Careers

We will support residents and Fellows with the appropriate tools, programs and content to ensure their education and lifelong learning meet the evolving demands of their careers.
Specialty medicine is changing swiftly, and the careers of physicians must adapt to keep pace. To support specialist physicians, our work in setting the highest standards for specialty education and continuing professional development will align with the best interests of patients, Fellows, residents, society and the wider health care community. As we support research, develop and collate content, and set standards, we will lead by soliciting wide-ranging input to improve the Royal College’s systems, processes and technologies.
How we will deliver on this strategic priority:
- Embed diverse patient voices in committees, planning and resources.
- Continue to incorporate Indigenous and racialized peoples’ health into postgraduate medical education by facilitating working groups with our Indigenous and medical education partners.
- Launch the initial phases of a Fellow-driven education strategy that will provide meaningful continuing professional development, learning and physician wellness tools.
- Collaborate with our medical education partners to continue the implementation of Competence by Design (CBD) and CBD program evaluation.
- Prepare physicians for the technological changes that may impact their practice by developing a feasible plan for adopting key recommendations from the Royal College Council Task Force on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Emerging Digital Technologies report.
